Raw dog food can mean uncooked meat and organs, bones, eggs or other unheated animal ingredients, whether homemade, refrigerated or frozen. It is not one standardized diet. The central question is not whether the food looks natural but whether it is nutritionally complete for your dog's life stage and whether the household can manage pathogen exposure. The CDC does not recommend raw pet food for dogs and cats, and the AVMA discourages raw or undercooked animal-source protein because of risks to animals and people.
